Easter sponsored walk

• The Teachers at school have offered to sort out the prize for the most sponsor money raised. They
will sort out an extra big egg and display it in school to inspire children to raise more money.
• Kate to send email to class reps to chase up parents about returning their sponsored walk slips. Also
parents can be reminded that they can reply by email direct to school if this is easier.
• Richard and Chris have agreed to sort out BBQ – source meat and bread etc.
• OK to park at Coach & Horses – verified.
• Risk assessment for Canal walk – need feedback from Gillian/Richard W-Toms. To be followed up.
• Anna has blackboards that can be used for signs.
• Steve Epstein to make markers for the Tor y Foel route.
• Stewards needed at Ashford Road tunnel where people have to walk on road.
• Collect names at start of walk of all participants, in order to be able to check people down off Tor y
Foel again, and so that they can sign disclaimer.
• Chris happy to take people up the first part of walk where it is less clear which way to go – may need
more than one person doing this.
• Kate to prepare sheet for signing with disclaimer etc. Also to do short handout with basic safety
information concerning, water, raincoats etc.
• Hamper raffle – raffle tickets spare in school office can be used. Donations of anything else to be in
by 25th March. Anna to place hamper in Red Lion for first week to display and generate sales.
• Nia to buy easter eggs x 75 for handing out to all children who participate.
• Anna to ask Tracy from Coach & Horses to judge the easter decoration/outfit competition.

Walks leaflets
• Anna has the first new Talybont walk – will forward to Kate on email.

• Nia to speak to Llangattock Marina.
• Sally has second walk to come for Pencelli (Rod & Will).
• Nia to sort out final print quotes.
• Sponsors £50.00 per year not per 1000 copies.
• Anna attending meeting with Brecon Beacons National Park about promoting the area, she will
mention the walks to them and report back.
• Possibly put all sponsor names on each walk leaflet, rather than just one to simplify matters.
• It was agreed that further discussions should be had via email as short of time at this meeting.

Quiz night

• Tracy to write this and run it at Coach & Horses.
• £5.00 per team, maximum of 5 per team.

• Curry & chips available from pub - £4.00 per head, extra pound in here for Tracy to donate if she
wants to.
• We want to encourage teams to sign up for this event. Mums/Dads/Farmers/Teachers etc.

OTHER ITEMS
Chris passed on a message from Richard W-Toms concerning the finances. Mr Brasington is owed £3000.00
out of the funds, this is to go towards items school needs for an upcoming audit.
The Friends would like to request that the Treasurer to attend the next meeting as there are a few queries
outstanding, plus the Chairs have requested a set of accounts please.
Class representatives
It was hoped that the Class reps would start to attend future meetings as this would be really helpful. We
would love to hear your feedback. Kate to email the class reps individually with a personal invitation to
come.

Attendance

Attendance at the Friends meetings has again been poor. Back at the end of 2010 when the Emergency AGM
was called, 25 - 30 people attended this meeting and this was very positive. We have tried to alternate times
and venues of meetings to make things easier for people and at school meets there have been staff on hand
to look after other children. Please can we ask that everyone makes an effort to attend, otherwise the
responsibility once again falls to a certain few volunteers. As new events are planned we really do need extra
hands to help out on events. Meeting dates are notified through the minutes and reminders sent by email.
A notice is also placed on the noticeboard and in future laminated notices will aslo be put on school gates.
Please all try and come!

The next meeting will then be in April on:
Thursday 14th April at 8pm at The Star, Talybont.
