MINUTES OF THE FRIENDS MEETING

Held on 6th December at 8pm in Red Lion, Llangynidr

Present:
Anna Bell, Kate Inglis, Richard Westlake-Toms, Hester Woodcock, Caroline Wilbud,
Ruth Hanson, Trina Lewis.

Apologies: Sally Griffiths, Chris Jones, Andrew Brasington.

Matters Arising:
There were no matters arising from the last meeting.

Christmas Fair
The Christmas Fair raised a fantastic £750.00, so many thanks to all those involved with helping to set-up and
who worked on stalls during the event. A special thanks to Hester for her amazing organisational skills.
Feedback was that the fair went well and that all the kids had a fabulous time.
Two stalls did not turn up so we will need to make people pay a fee next year.
A larger Santa outfit is required as it was rather a snug fit! Claire Wright has offered an old suit to Anna that
was apparently used in the past.
The Craft fair idea was discussed further and it was agreed that it is not suitable for the fair in its current
format. If Friends want to hold a craft fair then this should be organised as a separate event at another time
of year.
Hampers
The hampers that the classes put together are to be placed in local pubs with the draw being held on
Thursday 15th at the School performance. Trina volunteered to collect the hampers on Wednesday and take
to the performance in the hall and sell raffle tickets on Weds pm. Caroline to move them on Thursday and
sell tickets. (This draw has since taken place). The rough amount raised from raffling off the hampers was
another amazing £500.00! So thanks to everyone that bought tickets and helped to sell them also.

Bags2school
The response from parents for this collection was fabulous and a massive thanks to all those who took part.
The total weight collected was 750kilos. School will receive a cheque for £375.00 in the New year. We will
be repeating this fund-raising idea in 2012 with a date booked for 8th November, so start saving your
textiles for Friends!

50/50 Auction
To be held in the Village Hall, provisional date suggested of Saturday February 25th 2012.

Quiz night
Tracy at the Coach & Horses has offered to hold another Quiz night where she will organise food as before
and run the Quiz. Date for this Friday 3rd February. Kate to approach Jonah/Nancy about producing flyer for
this again.

Sponsored walk & Canal Anniversary
Sponsored walk in 2012 to be combined with Canal Anniversary. Reverse walk on last year ie: Start in
Talybont and end at Coach & Horses. Needs to be discussed with Tracy at the Coach & Horses. Provisional
dates of Sat 26th May or Saturday 2nd June as kids break up for half-term? Canal theme for dressing up.
Anna has a contact that may get involved doing arts/crafts for kids.

Open gardens
Sally has file of info on this, letters need to be sent out to possible participants with plenty of notice.
Caroline to speak to Louise Barlow. Date suggested of Saturday 23rd June.

Coinspinner
Laura Oliver and Vicky Critchley have sent letter in regarding this grant scheme. Friends are very happy to
go ahead with this and Anna to reply. Possible £1000.00 to be spent on Infants part of the school for new
equipment.

Giving Machine
Natasha Mason raised the idea of signing up for Giving Machine to raise funds for school through internet
shopping. Friends are already set-up with Everyclick and Easy Fundraising is another company. Kate to check
out these other options and register with them, then publicise through school and Friends newsletter.

Welcome info sheet
There was some discussion around producing an information sheet for new parents to the school. As a
couple of people had asked for information. Apparently there was a factsheet in existence in the past -
Nicky/Nia would know this. These can be given out at playgroup also. Kate to produce.
Andrew Brasington to email new parents to see if they want to be on Friends mailing list.

School website
Briefly discussed as needs setting-up properly. Believe Jonah Webb may be looking at this, but it needs to be
followed up.

Year 6 fundraising
Year 6 raised £80.00 at school fair on ice-cream stall, this money goes towards the Year 6 trip to London.
Also the Film night profits go towards this specific fund. Friends agreed that this was OK to carry on with
this arrangement as long as it was understood.
