Matters Arising:
Agricultural show - August bank holiday:
This was revisited as it was pointed out that the Agricultural committee had helped the school financially in
the past with grounds & fencing and with the chickens. It was felt that the school should be represented as it
is an important community event. It was agreed that we should ask Mr Brasington if he wants a presence
there. Also to see if any parents would be willing to help - or take on organising some childrens races during
the show. In the past this has only taken an hour or so to run.

Easter sponsored walk
• Anna to go through sponsor monies sent in and re-do list of who still needs to bring their money in.
• Nancy has sent piece to B & R with photos - hopefully they will publish it.
• Nancy to pass info to Kate for inclusion in newsletter.
• Report and pics to be sent to Hester for inclusion on Website.
• Sarah Roberts also has some photos from the day - will forward to Kate.
• Kate to put thanks and info and photos into a Friends newsletter also incorporating other
forthcoming events.

Sports Day
• Tuesday 21st June - Reserve date Thursday 23rd June.
• Idea to sell strawberries & cream.
• Sally not able to do pizza at this time.
• Year 6 to sell lollies as usual.
• Anna to organise another hamper and raffle tickets.
• Strawberries to be picked in morning of 21st in Abergavenny. Rachael, Kate & Caroline offered to do
this, any other helpers welcome!
• Volunteers to sell strawbs during Sports Day: Sally Griffiths, Abby or Ruth Hanson. Also any other
helpers welcome!

Green Man festival
• Further discussions around health & safety.
• Suggestion of using the school kitchen as this is certified by Powys.
• Sweet stall idea avoids any issues of preparing fresh food.
• Cakes idea was revisited also, could buy in cakes but then less profit to be made.
• Candy floss or popcorn also suggested.
• Friends banner available - Hester holds this.
• Sally to speak to Powys Council and Green man to check re licences and liability.
• Sally to speak with organiser to definitely get stall now that she knows that we have some
people to manage stall.
• 8 x volunteers so far: Louise Barlow, Rachael Cadman, Sarah Roberts, June Alp-Williams, Abby or
Ruth Hanson, Kate Inglis, Tony Foden, Caroline Wilbud. The plan is to work in pairs and hopefully do
half-day shifts as long as we have enough volunteers.
• Further volunteers required to run stall over weekend of 19/20/21 August.

Walks leaflets
• Ready to go - just awaiting sponsorship info.
• Sally & Anna to speak to x 10 possible sponsors and let Kate know by Friday 13th May.

Beer & band night
• Henderson Hall, Talybont booked for Sat 17th September.
• Jonah Webbs band "The Bandits" have agreed to play which is great. Possibility of asking Phil
O'Sullivan and "Calling card" to play also. Anna to contact. Also there was a suggestion of asking
Crickhowell High school as they have a band that is good and wants experience of playing (Seen at
recent Royal wedding celebrations in Crickhowell).
• This needs organising before sports day if possible so that we can hand out flyers.
• Want to market this event to the villages - not just school parents.
• Anna to check capacity of hall.
• Jonah/Nancy Webb happy to do flyer/advertising for this event.
• Anna is covered for drinks licence and need to get TE Notice.
• Anna to order 2 x real ales, 1 x lager & 1 x cider. Soft drinks need organising.
• All inclusive entry ticket of £10.00 for food and bands
• Timings: 7.30pm to 12.00 midnight.
• Chris suggested cooking pork joints and preparing like a hog roast. ie: pork in buns and apple sauce.
Jacket potatoes also suggested with various toppings, this covers vegetarian option. Rachael to help
with this.
• Idea suggested that people could pay to stand up and sing and join in if they want to - auction the
opportunity in middle of night.
• Caroline to research where to get tickets printed. Vistaprint?

Bags2school
• Agreed to try this second-hand clothing scheme in October.
• Bags to go out before the half-term and to be brought back after the holiday.
• Kate to investigate further.

Open gardens
• Due to be repeated in June 2012.
• It was clarified that Llangattock shared their original idea with us and it was definitely agreed to
alternate each year with them.
• In 2012 as it is the Canal Anniversary - apparently the Waterways are hoping to have Open gardens
all along the Canal, so this needs clarifying.

50/50 Auction
• Idea planned for Spring 2012.
• Chris suggested making this a 50/50 Auction whereby people can earn some cash for themselves and
50% goes to the school. This way people have an interest and are likely to bring more things along.
Chris happy to help organise and undertake actual auction on the day. Can be marketed to villages
also not just school.
• Could be held in the Village Hall with viewing in the morning and then Auction at 4pm.
Saturday event.

The next meeting will then be:
Monday 4th July at 8pm at The Red Lion, Llangynidr.
