Youngsters from Llangynidr Primary School scaled the heights of Tor yFoel near Talybont in a peak challenge to raise more than £3,000 for their school.

The 49 intrepid young walkers and their families who took part in asponsored walk from Llangynidr to Talybont during the Easter holidays ranged in age from four to 11 years old.

Anna Bell, co-chair of the Friends of Llangynidr School which organised the walk to raise money for new books for the school, said:“To walk eight miles up a mountain for the school was an amazingachievement, especially as the youngest who did the mountain walk wasjust five years old.
“Even taking part in a four-mile walk along the canal was no mean featfor some of the nursery and reception children.”

The sponsorship money was matched-funded in part by Barclay’s Bank anda barbecue held at the Star Inn in Talybont afterwards helped bump up the funds to more than £3,000.

“We raised a huge amount for a single event and everyone had afantastic day,” said Anna Bell. “We had great weather, great fun andthere was a great sense of achievement all round!”

Well done everyone!
